If you are interested in being a contributor to Breath on Paper, please submit a one- or two-paragraph pitch to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also include a writing sample of 500-700 words in .doc or .docx format (your sample can be previously published). We will review your pitch and let you know if we would like to see the full post.
Note: Breath on Paper accepts only previously unpublished submissions for publication on its site.
Breath on Paper is a devotional blog that ministers to our audience on a personal level that readers can relate to. Authors are encouraged to write from a personal perspective for that reason, being transparent enough to share something that you’ve personally experienced, writing as if you’re sharing with a friend.
We generally have specific themes or series that we write on for assignments a few weeks at a time, with occasional free-style submissions. If we’re in a series when you submit your pitch, we will send you the series assignment, or that of the upcoming series. You will also be given a fair deadline of when the submission is due.
Posts can be practical, humorous, or narrative in nature and cover any of a variety of topics that appeal to women—spiritual questions, singleness, dating, marriage, parenthood, education, friendship, work-life balance, aging, homekeeping, self-care, etc. Posts do not need to be overtly spiritual, but should be encouraging and should reflect Christ-centered values and should use scripture to highlight your narrative always pointing back to Jesus. There is a 500-700 word limit (excluding 50 word bio) for each post.
We ask for a 50 word bio of our authors and a headshot for us to include at the end of your post so our readers can see who it is they’re connecting with.
