Breath Day – September 29, 2018

Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. ~ Matthew 6:19-21

What is your most cherished possession?

My thoughts instantly go to beautiful pieces of jewelry my husband gave me throughout our marriage; photographs of marvelous vacations and events in life I have enjoyed; and belongings of sentimental value given to me by loved ones who have passed away.

We all have possessions, don’t we?  Things we would grab in the event of a house fire?  Things we protect?

Though I value all of those things, nearest and dearest to my heart is my relationship with the God Who deeply loves me, Who speaks to me daily through His written Word, and freely gives me salvation through His Son Jesus.

Things are just that — things. They can be stolen, burn up, or blow away. A relationship with our God can never be taken from us. When we accept and acknowledge Him as our most treasured possession, He gifts us with an eternal crown of jewels, reunification with our believing loved ones, and a perfect new life.
