Breath Day – September 15

Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.” 2 Samuel 7:28 NIV

The first thing I did this morning was hop on Google and semi-frantically search for answers — a solution to my inability to understand my situation. I was hoping that the Internet would provide me with something I needed, some form of hope.

Of course, the Holy Spirit, in His perfect, precious ways, reminded me that I should always start my day with my Father. And, of course, God — with all of His timeliness — and our Savior — with all of His grace — had this verse as the verse of the day in the Bible app:

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭73:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You see, I thought I was struggling with my circumstances this morning, but I was really struggling with “letting go and letting God.”

When it comes to spiritual matters, we have to be careful to remember that His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9 NLT). He is GREATER than us. We aren’t meant to control the world around us, we aren’t meant to understand everything, we are made to TRUST! Faith over feeling, THAT is the life we are called to.

How wonderful is our God!! We don’t have to know why things happen: we don’t have to see the answers in this world. We only have to trust that our God is in control and that, because He still sits on the throne, we can trust in Him, knowing that everything He does and allows in our lives is always for His ultimate glory and for our ultimate benefit.

Praise our God, the Maker of the heavens and the earth!

  1. What a great reminder that God never intended for us to do life apart from him. He wants us to trust Him with our every thought, concern and joy! He is for us, not against us and He speaks through His written word! Thank you Elle!! I love you! Mom
