…For when I am weak, then I am strong. – 2 Corinthians 12: 10
The demands of everyday life can sometimes be overwhelming. Finding a balance between family, work, and self can be exhausting. There are times when you’re worn out physically, mentally, and spiritually. You can find ways to restore your energy level, but that is only a temporary solution. When you are at your weakest, rely on the promises of God to strengthen you.
My cancer story began in the emergency room. That emergency room visit cost me 19 days in the hospital. I don’t remember much. It all seems like a blur. But I do remember being so weak from the poking and prodding of my body that I just wanted it to stop. Trying to draw blood was almost impossible. My fingers and arms were so swollen due to the fluid that finding a vein was like finding a needle in a haystack except they were using the needle on me.
The nurses saw the pain in my eyes and called in reinforcements. Two nurses from the lab who have “special” skills in working with veins that don’t cooperate attempted to draw blood. I had a nurse on each side drawing blood from both arms at the same time and in different places. Places I did not know you could get blood from. I remember praying out loud, “Lord, please let them find a vein. Please let them get what they need.”
God used His power and strengthened me when I was at my weakest.
I could not have done it on my own. When I needed Him, He was there. He didn’t hesitate and He didn’t ask questions. He heard the cry of His child in need and He showed up in a big way.
Jesus said in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
How does a Christian find strength? By believing God when He says, “My grace is sufficient for you.” He is the grace. He is the strength. His presence is power.
He is our greatest hope. He is the Author and Creator of hope. It is in Him we find meaning and purpose in life. We find the courage to live from Him.
Matthew 11:28-30- Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
This is a powerful verse and a great reminder of God’s love and care for His children.
He wants a deep, continuing relationship with you. And whatever He asks of you He will equip you with, teach you and guide you.
Instead of asking God to remove the thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7), Paul was wise enough to see that grace was the best remedy for his ailment and declared, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
God supplies the strength you need for every day. That’s a promise!
