Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” Exodus 14:13-15
At God’s direction, Moses was leading the Israelites to the promised land. Time and again they were delivered from crises, lives were spared, and provision was given. There was overwhelming evidence that God had repeatedly heard their cries for help.
Moses reminded the Israelites of all God had done for them as God quietly listened … then put a period at the end of the sentence. Like a parent pushed to his or her limit, He told them, “Hush! Quit whining and move on!” Can’t you hear Him?
God wants us to trust, because of what we have already seen Him do, that He hears our prayers. But He also wants us to do our part. Be mindful of how the Lord has repeatedly answered your prayers, be braced with the confidence that He will deliver you again, and stand ready when He calls you to action!
