Breath Day – June 30, 2018

What are you afraid of?  A quick Google search will reveal the top ten fears people have:

  1. The dentist
  2. Dogs
  3. Flying
  4. Thunder/lightning
  5. The dark
  6. Heights
  7. Other people (speaking, eating in front of)
  8. Scary spaces (elevators, bridges, public transportation)
  9. Spiders
  10. Snakes

Yet, the God of the universe, Who created the earth and all that is in it, Who is able to part the waters, Who has the power over death and the grave … this God didn’t make the list.

What do the top ten fears have in common?

The objects of our fears were all created by the Master Craftsman.  Perhaps our fear has been misplaced.  Misplaced on things that are temporal and not eternal.  Misplaced on things that really have no power over us.

It would be wise that we attribute fear to that which is holy, not what is here today and gone tomorrow.

Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.  Psalm 33:8
