One man is very wealthy, born into a royal family. He is educated, industrious, and everything he touches turns to gold. From time to time he strays from the obedience God expects, but still he is admired far and wide, for surely he is blessed and has found favor with God to have experienced such prosperity.
Another man suffers much hardship and persecution throughout life. Each way he turns there is another obstacle. Though he wonders why God would allow so many trials into his life and friends suggest that perhaps he isn’t living right and, thus, is deserving of his circumstances, he perseveres from one difficulty to the next.
Which one will receive eternal life?
Whichever accepts the gift of salvation. There is no circumstance, works, riches, or station in life that will pave the way to eternal life. All that is required is to believe and accept.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God … Ephesians 2:8
