I recently saw a quote by Hannah Brencher that read
“I am learning if I spend every single day seeking to make people feel loved, chosen and special, then I can never lose. I can never really say a day is wasted.”
Upon reading the quote, I literally shouted a resounding “Amen” out loud. THIS … THIS VERY THING is, without a doubt, my passion!
God has placed a desire deep inside me to be a light to others when their world appears to be going dark, when times are rough, when their day isn’t going so great, when they’re stressed out or when they end up in a place they never thought or imagined they would be. Has this desire always been there? Oh no. It was born and molded over many, many years of hurt, heartache and darkness in my own life. During my seemingly hopeless season, I certainly wasn’t up to being an encouragement to anyone! But, after walking through that season in my life and coming out on the other side, I was able to see the purpose behind the pain! Nothing we go through is ever for nothing! The Lord allowed me to experience the hurt, the dark, the hard, so that I could have a true and deep empathy for others who feel as if there is no hope … to remind them that there IS hope and it has a name … Jesus!
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. ~ Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
There is nothing that brings me more joy than knowing I helped to remind someone of their immense value and how much they are loved, not only by me, but especially by their Heavenly Father! I love that I get the amazing honor of being a tool God uses to brighten someone’s day. I can’t begin to count the number of times someone has said to me that my text, note, card, or word of encouragement came to them at “just the right time.” It makes me smile because I know that, in and of myself, there’s no way I could just “know” when someone needs encouragement, but through the whispers of the Holy Spirit to my heart, I suddenly become aware of exactly the moment someone is needing a pick-me-up. It brings me great joy to know that my Father would use me to love on His children … to be His hands and feet to a world that so desperately needs relationship!
In a world where so many have the “It’s all about me!” mentality, let’s be a group of women who adopt the “It’s all about YOU” mentality! Let’s be intentional and PASSIONATE about what we can do for others. Take some time today to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you … ask him to whisper someone’s name into your spirit. When you hear His whisper, don’t delay! Send that text, make that call, write that note, and let His precious daughter know the Lord placed her on your heart … remind her of her Father’s unmeasurable love for her … that He takes great delight in her (Zephaniah 3:17)! GO ALL IN and take it a step further … ask what you can do, how you can help … tell her that “Today, IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU!”
