It took me some years to understand that I was created with a purpose. It was not something I picked up in my young Christian walk. I grew up believing that a good Christian Women had to be involved in as many areas as possible. From Children’s Church, to Vacation Bible School, to the Choir, to Ushering and the list goes on and on. Too be honest, I hated it!
It wasn’t until later in life that I understood, that yes, I have a calling on my life. A purpose. A charge given to me in advance. I am God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advanced for each of us: Ephesians 2:10. We are all tasked with a unique purpose to bring glory to our Heavenly Father. This purpose allows us to join with other members of the body of Christ. My purpose became clear to me after I attended a Life conference at Church, now known as Freedom Conference. My group leader had already told me weeks earlier that she saw me leading other women in Small Group capacity. I laughed at her. However, after the conference, it was clear to me that it was exactly what I was created to do. It brings joy to my heart when I am using my Godly gift! Using my gift for His glory has provided me with so many blessings. I have met some of my dearest friends who also have the same gift. We are able to encourage each other.
I can hear some of you saying I don’t have time. I don’t know where to start. I don’t have any special gifts. Well my friend, I am here to tell you that you do have a God given gift to use.
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.
If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do itcheerfully.” Romans 12:4-8
Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
I sure want to please my Father. If praying with other women pleases my Father, I will pray. I want the seed that he planted in me to grow. And if writing this blog post, pleases my Father, I will write! I am encouraged that Gods purpose for me is to be a blessing by using my gifts in this world! I was born to fulfill a calling only I can, and so were you!
