Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
At a family gathering last year I listened to a delightful conversation between a father and his 20-something daughter. She asked him questions about his early years. She learned there was more to know about him and his younger-life experiences. Her perspective of him had limited him to one role and for only as many years as she had been alive. In wide-eyed wonder, she laughed as he shared and she discovered more about him, realizing he was much the same as a younger man, perhaps just a bit more spirited. No longer a little girl, she could now see his wisdom as she listened.
Our heavenly Daddy reveals Himself to us in His Word, speaking to us of His unchanging nature. As we spend time reading the Bible, we get to know Him more intimately; we watch how He works through circumstances in our lives. The words of the timeless hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” reiterate the truth of Hebrews 13:8:
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.”
May you enjoy, in wonder and amazement, the intimacy, wisdom, and love of our unchanging Father.
