Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Matthew 4:1-3
Where do you get your perception of your worth? Whom or what do you allow to define your identity?
In Matthew 4:3, we read that Satan attacked Jesus through his identity when he said, IF you are the Son of God. In verses following, Satan again tempted Jesus with possession and power.
Satan attacks us in the same way. Many times our flesh responds by seeking worth from our appearance, our homes, our jobs, and the opinions of others instead of remembering that our identity and worth are found only in God.
There is no weapon formed by Satan and used against us that will ever dislodge God’s love or spirit from within us. There is no “if” about it — we are eternally secure in Him.
