Every day we face obstacles. Whether it be at work or home, with money or our health.
Do you ever find moments to spend quiet time, you and God?
You know what I mean. You see a stray dog on the side of the road and you pray he finds his home; you walk into a business meeting and pray your associates love your new campaign idea; or you see a car accident and pray that everyone is okay.
During my 16 days of radiation treatment, I would spend time talking with God and listening to Christian music. Not only did the music help with the passing of time, it also covered up the sound of the radiation machine pointing a beam at three separate locations on my body.
I knew I needed to prepare for my upcoming blog post (the one I’m writing now) and I had no idea where to begin. During my conversation with God, I asked Him for direction and guidance on the word “radiant.” I thanked Him, closed my eyes and focused on the music.
The next song that played was definitely an answered prayer from God. The first line of the song included the word “radiant.” God gave me a starting point and He reminded me of His immeasurable love He has for His children.
Your love is like radiant diamonds
Bursting inside us we cannot contain
Your love will surely come find us
Like blazing wild fires singing Your name
What a beautiful illustration of God’s love being compared to radiant diamonds. That love lives inside of me and shines and sparkles for others to see.
We know that good works alone will not get us into heaven, but it does reflect the way others see us. When people see me, I hope they see the radiant light of Jesus that glows inside me. What do others see when they look at you? Light or darkness? Our light is meant to be seen for the glory of God and not be hidden. We are not to waste our light. It is meant to be a beacon of truth.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
Are you guilty of hiding your light? I know I’m guilty. I look back on situations in my life and wonder, Did I speak up instead of not saying anything at all? Have I given into peer pressure just to make someone else happy? Or even rejected the light? We are the Jesus that people will see. They will base their thoughts about Jesus by the way we conduct ourselves, or what kind of light we reflect. The light exposes that which is not the truth. It removes darkness and tells of danger.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Our light should be a light that is reflected from Jesus, back to Jesus. When His light shines upon you, you become radiant!
My name is (your name) and I am RADIANT (by God!)
You are what God says that you are! You are enough!
