Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9
God loves us.
We know that in our head. But we have a distance problem. Not the distance we feel between us and God, but the distance between our head and our heart!
The reality of God’s love surrounds us. How do we get this love from knowing in our head to believing it in our heart?
The Bible is full of truth:
God’s love is unchanging
God’s love is our comfort
God’s love is revealed through Jesus Christ
God’s love fills us through the Holy Spirit
God’s love is how we love one another
What would our lives look like if we believed that God loves us?
What would happen to fear?
What would happen to loneliness?
What would happen to pride?
What would happen to all our insecurities?
The enemy is after our thoughts. He wants us to have attitude instead of living with gratitude. If he can govern our thoughts, our mind, will, and emotions, he can keep us from seeing our created value…the price Jesus paid for us.
We have all had words spoken over us that we’re hanging onto. My parents didn’t want me. What if it wasn’t that they didn’t want you but it was that they didn’t know who they were and therefore they didn’t know how to accept you? We live our entire lives trying to be accepted when the truth is God chose us. No one can take away your acceptance.
Let’s think back for just a minute…
We didn’t choose God. He chose us. He knocked before we knew He was even standing at the door of our heart. IF you said Yes to Jesus, it is because you answered His invitation.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20
The Cross isn’t just the revelation of your sin. The Cross is the revealing of your value.
IF we could see the cost paid on the cross, we could comprehend our value – what it cost to redeem us. You. Me. IF we saw our value, we would never look in the mirror and see worthless again!
You are worth the blood of Jesus!
He paid a High Price for you. He will never change His mind about you. He always thinks the same thing:
I love you.
I paid a high price to redeem you.
When you felt like everybody else hated you, I was there.
When you believed everybody else saw you as a looser, a liar and not worth the effort, I was there for you.
When you didn’t even think about me, I was thinking about you.
As a matter of fact, I was thinking about you before the foundation of the world.
That’s right. God thought about you before He ever spoke the world into existence.
What if we could grab hold of 10 of God’s thoughts about us? How would our life be different? What if we could grasp 100? What if we could shut out the lies of the enemy and believe what God says? The Bible is full of His thoughts for us.
For the remainder of 2017 we will be writing on what God says about us. Us = you and me. His kids. I am (what God says that I am).
We invite you to take this journey with us. Let’s go from knowing to believing.
Because you are what God says that you are! You are enough!
This week, take a few minutes to meditate on these Scriptures about God’s love and ask the Lord to show you how you can reflect His love to others in your life.
Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:26
The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
