I’m an original member. I’ve had the pleasure to write for Breath on Paper since it started almost two years ago. Many women have come and gone throughout the semester and I’ve been blessed to know each one as a family. Each woman brings a different aspect of their spiritual journey with them. We may be on different paths in our spiritual walk but we are faithful and compassionate about sharing what God has put on our hearts.
I’m a “grandmother.” Three months before Breath on Paper started my first grandchild was born. I’ve put a picture or two of him and his momma in some of my blog posts. Outdoors is his favorite place to be pushing his cars and trucks in the dirt and the mud. He loves riding his 4-wheeler ride on toy down his driveway laughing till he comes to a stop and he does it all over again pushing his 4-wheeler to the top. He has the sweetest face and the bluest eyes that just melt my heart. I can never get enough of him. I thought being a mother was awesome; being a grandmother is even better. He is the light of my eye and fills me with such joy. He makes me giggle and puts a smile on my face.
I’m also a cancer patient. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma on April 5, 2017.
Did I ask “Why me Lord? What have I done to deserve this?” The answer is “No.” Bad things happen to good people every day. It’s how you handle the “bad thing” that sets you apart from the others. God allowed cancer to enter my body for what reasons I can only guess. But this is the season I’m in now and I trust where God is leading me.
John 10:10 says: The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.
Satan would love for me to question, curse, and doubt my Heavenly Father. He has not left me during my cancer walk or any other time. I may not always see what He is up to but I know He is working all things for my good. If that includes a season of cancer, then so be it.
Will my cancer journey inspire someone? I pray it has an effect on someone. Is He teaching me a life lesson? Or will someone learn a valuable life lesson through my journey? Only He knows, and one day I will know.
But for now, I will trust and follow the path God has placed in front of me. I do not worry or fret, because He has walked before me. I am not alone in this journey. He has walked before me paving the way to Victory!
Whatever situation or circumstance know that you are not alone. He is with you always.
Be blessed and encouraged.
