WORD & WORSHIP – I Have a Plan For You

Today we are taking the day to reflect on a few precious verses and a fun song.  We’re calling it

 Word & Worship

God Has A Time For Everything

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; …  Ecclesiastes 3:1-22

FOR OUR WORD TODAY:    We look to the ancient Israelite prophet Isaiah, who penned these beautiful words of wisdom just for us…

And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.  Isaiah 58:11

…like a watered garden.  It has not rained in Birmingham, AL since August 8th.  Evidence of a dry and thirsty land is everywhere.  Even our typically glorious fall foliage is muted due to the drought.  BUT a watered garden doesn’t have to wait for rain.  The prophet Isaiah likens God’s plan for your life to that of a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.  There is no drought in His presence.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.  Proverbs 16:9

FOR OUR WORSHIP TODAY:  We chose a powerful but short video by Pastor Tony Evan from Oak Cliff church in Dallas, Texas.  (Priscilla Shirer’ daddy)  I Have a Plan For You/Tony Evans

Tomorrow we will continue our series “Learning from Their Experiences” .  Our next lady is nameless, simply called POTIPHAR’S WIFE.   Jacob’s favorite, Joseph has been sold by his brothers to a passing caravan and then sold again to a wealthy officer in Pharaoh’s service.  It doesn’t take Potiphar long to realize Joseph’s value and he promptly gives him charge over all his property.  Potiphar’s wife is smitten by this well-built and handsome Israelite and she quickly schemes to seduce him. ~
Next week we will look at the life of Potiphar’s wife and see what we can learn from her experiences.
