It’s a Revolution

The stage was set with the election victory for Britain’s exit from the European Union. Then many citizens of the United States, tired of politics as usual spurred on a movement that eventually led to the election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America. He was considered a political outsider. Reports are predicting that such outcomes could lead to similar anti-establishment election results in countries such as Italy, Austria, France and Germany.

Do you remember the song, “Revolution” by Kirk Franklin? Perhaps that’s what we are living through right now, a revolution. But battles are nothing new. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you should be familiar with them. Spiritually, there are some battles that are absolutely necessary to undertake, beginning with the one for our souls.

picture-battlesWe are told to work out our salvation. Fight the good fight for your holiness and sanctification. Yes.

“There is…a time for war and a time for peace.”  –Ecclesiastes 3:8

For Dinah’s brothers, Simeon and Levi, it was time for war when they heard that Shechem had raped their sister. His father later went to request that Dinah be given to his son.

With deception in their hearts, Simeon and Levi agreed to give their sister to Shechem, if all the men in their group got circumcised. The men agreed, but when they had the procedure, the brother’s took advantage of them while they were recovering in pain and killed them. They never intended to let the man that stole their sister’s innocence get off easy.

Perhaps we have allowed the enemy to steal from us, from our children, and our communities, while we let him get off free. How many of us have ever given up on our dreams, or at least packed them away on a shelf? Somehow justifying not moving toward the destiny that God planned for us.

picture-army-prayerMost of us have known or heard of a young person whose life was taken far too early by drugs or criminal acts. Many others have suffered through struggling careers and challenging relationships. And we can hardly watch a news program without seeing a report of a homicide.

When we constantly deal with failure, sickness, strained relationships, and financial hardships, we often find something or someone to blame. But it could be a sign that the enemy is at work in our lives. Enough!

It’s time for a revolution. Not the kind where we ride in on horses, but the kind where we bow to our knees. That’s right Matthew 11:12 says that “violence is advancing against the kingdom of heaven but the violent take it by force.”

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”  – 2 Corinthians 10:4

What has the enemy stolen from you?

What are you going to do about it?
