No Longer Slaves

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves…; in HIS LOVE he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with SINGING.”

As I sat down to write about Hagar in Genesis, a SLAVE GIRL to her master Sarai, I realized she was not just a slave to a mere human, but a SLAVE GIRL TO HER FEAR……a runaway!  She was fearful of where she saw her life heading and felt victimized and harrassed! Instead of going to God for help and the endurance she needed to face her life, she decided to “go it alone” in her own strength….a runaway! Her own solution to run would leave her exposed as vulnerable prey heeding to the wrong voices that had led her into a scorching desert of sure death.

But, as it is written…

Deuteronomy 31:8 “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

He WILL NOT give you more than you can handle!  Amen

Just as Satan comes at us with his destructive mind games and crippling fear tactics so was his strategy against Hagar!  He was trying to consume her with fear concerning the circumstances in her life with abusive Sarai so that she would ultimately be worn down and choose to run away from God, her answer! This is exactly what the accuser does to us over and over to beat us down in life!  He does not want us to know the answer! The only way to overcome this intense “battle of the heart” is to be aware of our enemy’s tactics, pray for coverage, and to keep our eyes on JESUS!

Exodus 14:13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.

As I wrote about Hagar’s fear which favors my own at times, my heart was reminded of a song…. “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel.  It is beautiful yet the words are hard core!  The song sounds like the mighty battle cry of angel warriors.  As I listen, the fierce ballads become so real to me that I can hear nothing else (the world silenced) and I am reminded of who God has called me to be…a fearless child of the most High!

Song: Bethel “No Longer Slaves”

You unravel me with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance from my enemies
‘Til all my fears are gone

I’m no longer a slave to fear,  I am a child of God

You split the sea, So I could walk right through it.  You drowned my fears in perfect love
You rescued me and I will stand and sing

I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

Fear is one of Satan’s most effective and painful tools of operation to send us running from our purposed lives, goals, and dreams.  If the enemy can convince us to fear the journey ahead (fear of the unknown) leading with a paralyzed heart, we will not be able to move to the beat of God’s promises in song.  Instead, we will become locked up in a lonely prison of fear.

But Jesus SEES us when we are afraid and He sends His angels to shake down our prison walls ….crumbling at His feet!  We are then granted Freedom, by The Holy King, so we can walk out of our prison cells in God’s Peace.

Peter 2:9 “But you are God’s chosen and special people……God has brought you out of darkness (prison cell) and into his marvelous light (Freedom in Christ Jesus). Now you must GO (face it fearlessly) and tell all the wonderful things that he has done (speak out in Holy Boldness)!

NO LONGER SLAVES, Free…indeed! ~John 8:36
