A Heart To Believe

A Heart to Believeuntitled-2

When we come to Noah ten generations have gone by since Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The generations around them became so wicked that by the time we get to Noah he is the only righteous man on the earth. Adam is still alive when Noah’s father is on the earth, and yet his witness has so faded because of the knowledge of good and evil.

Man knew to do good, but “every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” The wickedness of man became so great, “The LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.”  Genesis 6:6

“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.”  Genesis 6:8

“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”  Hebrews 11:7

Noah had a wife and three sons and three daughter-in-laws. For whatever reason God chose not to give us the name of Noah’s wife or his daughter-in-laws. We only know for certain that they entered the ark and got off the ark when the flood was over.

Noah was a man of faith and I believe Mrs. Noah was a woman of faith. After all she was married to the only righteous man on earth. When Noah told her what God had said about the ark and coming flood, she did not say, “He has lost his mind and I am going to marry someone else.” She stood by her husband. I am sure she had to endure the ridicule of friends and neighbors as they watched the construction going on. Hearing for the umpteenth time…

What are you doing Noah?

I’m building an ark.

Why are you building an ark?

Because there is going to come a flood.

Well what is a flood?

That is when it rains so much that the water…

Yeah Noah…

But you know what? Sometimes God gives us a word.

Has God ever given you a word? A word to believe that seemed impossible. I want you to believe for them to be saved. I want you to believe for being debt free, and learning how to be a good steward. I want you to believe for a job. I want you to believe for your marriage. I want you to believe for healing.

Maybe God has said, I am going to heal your broken heart. I am going to restore to you joy and give you peace. But it was at a time when it seemed like the most impossible thing in the world. And when people looked at you and said, “How are you doing?” and you said, “With God’s help I’m doing ok.” They walked away and said, “Bless her heart. Wonder how she’ll do next week. Wonder how long that’s gonna last.”

When you have a word from God, stand on His Word no matter how impossible it is for you to imagine or what people may say because…

“with God all things are possible.”
