2 Corinthians 11:3-4 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Psalm 34:14 “Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
I think Eve and I would have been great friends! I could see us walking out a few life journies together as christian sisters, friend to friend, spirit to spirit, and sharing in our similar experiences. Both of our stories have favorable moments engulfed in the plot of trickery and deception. But, through my own darkness, temptations, and tough trials, I have grown in spirit immensely and have learned to focus on Jesus, stay in the word, and endure it! God is always Good and He equips me with what I need to fight and keep moving through those tough soul trials. He always provides His awesome strength in my weakest moments…stronger from it! Made perfect upon completion!
“Even though you planned evil against me (Satan), God planned good to come out of it. This was to keep many people alive, as he is doing now.” -Geneiss 50:20
Just like Eve’s beautiful paradise-garden, our “modern-day gardens” can be filled with a display of extreme beauty with an intoxicating fragrance for an excessive desire for more. The whole scene can be overwhelming to the immature eye and vulnerable unguarded heart. If the eyes are lustful and unhealthy, fixated on these earthly things to satisfy the heart, Satan WILL slither in with his venomous lies of destruction. But, the Lord says….
Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades (these “earthly gardens” you see are temporaray), but the word of our God stands forever.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Do not be foolish or pride-filled in thinking you can’t be tricked by this cunning master of disguise. Just as the evil serpent attacked Eve, Satan is constantly looking for a way to devour and destroy all things good. He WILL tempt us to take a bite of that juicy delicious fruit and taste the sweetness of what he calls “the good life”. Satan hissessss….. “The grassssss is greener over here! Come hither lost ssssssoul, thissssss tree is filled with endlesssss treasuresssss.” His voice is the sound of sin! Evil liesssssssss!
Just as Jesus was tempted by Satan’s voice, we are to respond as Jesus did….rebuke Satan in the name of The Lord. “Therefore, submit to God (His voice). But resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.” As we do this, the Angels clean us up and God strengthens and delivers us to redeemed safety. All is Forgiven in the eyes of Jesus! Thankful!
Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. Instead, we have one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet he never sinned.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Satan has many modern disguises while seeking victims of prey. Modern-day forbidden fruit most likely is not a buffed red apple, but sin is still presented to us as shiny, colorful, satisfying, and deliciously desirable. Just as Eve was enticed, Satan wants us weak and unprotected to take even just a little bite of secret sin…venomous and deadly.
Genesis 3:13 Then the LORD God asked the woman, “What have you done?” “The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”
Good vs Evil is a choice of the heart, a battle of flesh vs spirit buried deep in our human souls. But Jesus is LOVE and He knows we are weak but HE IS STRONG! He heals, equips, provides, satisfies, sanctifies, and protects! Choose wisely and give it all to God, for He has already won the battle over Satan, sin, and death! “He is not here, He is risen!”
