My Spiritual Gift

I took my first spiritual gifts test when I was in middle school, and today my test results are the same for my most dominant gifting from God – faith.

The Bible tells us as Christians we all have been given a gift of “saving faith” that leads to our salvation, but not all have been given the spiritual gifting of faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The word for faith is derived from the Latin fides[1] and is used throughout Scripture to define the trustful, human response to God’s self-revelation via His words and His actions.[2]

I believe God gifts us each uniquely, purposefully, and intentionally. My entire life I have been surrounded by men and women of exceptional faith, each of them fostering in me a burning desire and thirst for God’s faithful words to me.
A Sunday morning when I was 12 years old,
my sister and I overheard our parents arguing before we left for church. Dad was in seminary and working full time as a youth pastor. We lived in a tiny trailer by a waste treatment pond. Dad had picked up the checkbook to pay tithe on the $17 we had to our name. As any mother would, mom begged for money to feed us in the upcoming week. She was a strong Christian woman, but she was also a momma worried sick about her babies. Nervously I watched as my dad wrote a check for all of the remaining money we had in the bank. $17

Then we left for church.

My dad was being faithful. God had called him, and he was obeying. He knew a God that always provides for His children.

I don’t remember the service that day at all. What I do remember is walking up to our front door and seeing piles of grocery bags full of food and an envelope on the door contain a check with much more than $17 written in the

Faith – a trustful, human response to the revelation of who God is and what God’s Word says.

I could tell dozens of stories similar to this that I have seen. Each one has strengthened who I am in Christ and have taught me to rely on my gift of faith more and more. Faith has not just gotten me through things, but it has grown me into a woman head over heels in love with Jesus!

Faith has held me together through –

  • A husband deployed to various war zones
  • A child with a chronic and deteriorating health issues
  • Daily pain and fatigue
  • Financial hardships
  • Dangerous situations for me and my family

And faith has brought me into a life of –

  • A wholehearted service to my King
  • A ministry to others that pour into my heart in return
  • Riches and rewards this world will never understand
  • Peace in the storms of life (not always happiness, but always a peace)
  • A hope that His way is always better than mine
  • A confidence in my body and self
  • A purpose and identity

There is so much power in identifying where God has uniquely gifted YOU! You may have an idea of what that gifting is, but confirming it and understanding what that means to you and to God can rock your world in a huge way. Even more, it can rock the Kingdom of God in a huge way. When you know who you are in Christ you can begin to live a life intentionally in the lane He created you to live in. I promise you friend, there is no better place to be!

If you have never taken a spiritual gifts test, you can do so easily online. Take your time and answer the questions truthfully. No Sunday school answers here. Be true to who you are and your results will be empowering beyond your expectations!
