2 Corinthians 11:3-4 “And Paul said to the Corinthians…..”But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received (when you were saved), or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.”
2 Corinthians 11:13-14 “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
Note, Satan is NOT AN ANGEL OF LIGHT, he is merely disguised as one. “Dressed to kill”, his strategy is to dazzle eyes, sing beautifully in ears, and fill hearts with false promises and misinterpreted scripture…a worldly “prince charming”, if you will! This is how he attempts to throw us off course, worldly deception. Witnessed!
1 John 2:16 “For everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world.” This deception is uncontrolled fear-filled anxious chaos….. maddening! Satan is relentless, a wolf in sheep’s clothing! Do not succumb to his fancy disguises of power, fame, fortune, seduction, false promise…etc…
Revelations 6:2 “And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and the one sitting on it having a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went forth overcoming, and that he might conquer.” (This is deceptive imagery. This crowned warrior was NOT Jesus! )
We must define for ourselves where we are personally weak (different for each of us), guard our hearts, and test these spirits and disguises against the word of God. If they are good, helpful, and true WE WILL receive God’s peace from them. If not, fear, guilt, and anxiousness will set in…no rest! LEARN TO DISCERN!
Psalm 34:14 “Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
Temptations are only from the evil one! God does not tempt he only tests to teach, purify, refine, and secure our faith in Him. Hence, my re-occurring theme from blog post after blog post….John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. Remembering this scripture as God’s word of truth, fact, promise (however you want to claim it) is the very thing to help us discern good from evil. Listen intently, declare it In Jesus name, and pray continually to hear God’s thunderous yet sometimes still voice! LEARN TO DISCERN!
Proverbs 23:19 “My child, listen and be wise: Keep your heart on the right course.”
Philippians 3:2 “Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.”
For me, the gift of discernment was and still is the hardest gift to accept, to learn, and to hone daily….so many rows of ribbons and bows and tightly taped corners to unwrap. I have had many seasons of humbling aftermath and I am sure more to come, but The Lord Jehovah Shammah preaches to me……
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous (Beth), do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”
James 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord (Beth), and he will lift you up in honor.”
Nothing hurts worse than to “come to” and realize the very person you trusted the most (et tu Brut), the situation you saw as “no sweat”…I got this, or the hidden treasures you could have sworn you saw “glittering in the gleaned fields” were nothing more than deceit filled imagery as a tempting misleading spirit. Reflecting back onto Eve in her paradise lost, her destiny was dismantled and forever changed by nothing more than a cunning hissing serpent “disguised as WISDOM and GOOD”. He took it all from her in an instant! LEARN TO DISCERN!
Genesis 3:13 13 “The LORD God then asked the woman, “What have you done?” “The snake tricked me,” she answered. “And I ate some of that fruit.”
