…though, slightly concerned who might see us entering the automatic doors of the recently deemed heathen superstore. It was in that moment I got a check in my spirit. Not because we just crossed a line by momentarily sacrificing our ethics for the sake of convenience while there’s a major boycott going on, but because of what it’s really about. Hate. It’s the very root of every human opposition in the world. It always has been.
I’m not saying that everyone who’s boycotting is doing so from a place of hate. Nor am I saying we shouldn’t defend our biblical values or protect ourselves and our children from these recent changes and the potential threats due to them. And I’m definitely not advocating for tolerance. I believe in the Word of God 100%, that we’re to live by it, that it’s our responsibility to stand up for it and share it with the world. But that begs the question, what does that really look like according to the Word?
The Bible tells us that we’re to live and love as Jesus did. The interesting part about that is Jesus was a friend of sinners. He went to THEM. He loved and accepted THEM. Not their sin; THEM. He connected before He corrected, which allowed Him to minister to their hearts from a place of grace and truth.
We were designed to love and be loved; its our sole purpose for existing. However, it’s not just in the context of cherished relationships, but that of first loving God and also every person we encounter; even the not-so-loveable ones.
You know the verses; we preach, teach and sing about them, but how many of us actually walk them out??? We’re commanded to love, bless and pray for everyone, including the people that don’t share our values or beliefs, the ones who are different, even our enemies.
God loves every single person who’s ever lived. That means the person you hate, the one you’re angry with or repulsed by, God loves them the same as He loves you! He’s not prejudice. Process that.
He loves the: transgender, homosexual, atheist, muslim, black, white, red, etc, murderer, pedophile, drug dealer, abortionists, liberals, republicans and democrats! He loves Trump, Clinton, Sanders, Obama and ALL of ISIS, just as He loved Hitler and every Nazi who killed a Jew! He loves us ALL the SAME! And we’re commanded to love everyone and see them as He does, through a God filter.
TRUTH: sin is sin. It all has the same punishment, death and hell. We’ve ALL sinned; which means on God’s side of things, my sin, your sin, their sin…it’s all the same. Don’t be hatin’. I didn’t say it, He did! We ALL need Jesus!
Thank God for salvation! A gift freely given to ALL, because He loves ALL who’ve sinned.
It’s not our job to judge.
Our job is to obey and live according to the Word, and be an example to all those around us, radiating His love in everything we do, everywhere we go, to everyone we encounter. God loves everyone, but many will only realize that by experiencing His love through us. It’s the kindness of the Lord that leads to repentance.
That means letting no opportunity pass because we disagree with anyone supporting unbiblical values. These are things that are going to happen, as the Bible prophesies. And yes! We as believers, must fight back! But the only way we’ll succeed, is to first remember that our battle is against spiritual darkness; the tactics and weapons of war of this world are useless. We have to fight with the Word of God by emulating it’s truth.
So if “hate” is the root of it all, then “love” is the answer. A loving response will turn hearts to the Lord quicker than a word of judgement or condemnation will.
We’re to be IN the world, not OF it, being world changers for the kingdom; leading as many as we can to Christ. It’s impossible if we remove ourselves from situations where we have the opportunity to make a difference. You can’t change the world if you’re not in it. ~ Heather
“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are His dear children. Live a life filled with LOVE following the example of Christ.” Ephesians 5:1-2
