It’s Only Temporary
“…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
The Bible says the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy (John 10:10). But he also likes to disrupt my slumber. Just as my head hits the pillow with what I’m hoping are happy peaceful thoughts I find myself tossing and turning unable to sleep. My mind and my thoughts have somehow managed to escape my happy place and been replaced with unsettling thoughts.
Sound familiar? It’s funny how one small thought leads to another and another and before you know it your thought has escalated into a “up all nighter” that has you worried and questioning God.
During these “trials” it is very easy to lose sight of God and what is important. But keeping our focus on him will lead us through the darkness. He is our light at the end of the tunnel.
What an awesome God we serve. He has promised us that all things work together for good (Romans 8:28). He can take our hurts, pains, disappointments and our mistakes and command them to work for the benefit of our good. It makes me wonder how much needless pain we bring upon ourselves. I love the old hymn “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” the words “oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear, because we do not take it to the Lord in prayer.” How many sleepless nights could we save ourself if we just gave it to God?
I once read when you can’t see the hand of God, trust the heart of God. I don’t recall where I read this but it has stayed with me. How true these few words are. We may not be able to see God but we can trust Him. The Bible is proof of God’s heart. Psalm 55:22 says “cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you…” No matter how small or insignificant your”trial” is God wants to hear about it. Be honest with him. You can tell him anything and he will still love you.
He does work in mysterious ways. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9). This my friends is how God turns our messes into our mistakes.
God never promised only good days. We live in a world where evil exists on a daily basis. The devil is real and he looks for every opportunity he can to wiggle his way into our life. But take comfort in knowing your “trials” are temporary and they won’t last long (2 Cor 4:17). Joy will come!

Your Turn: “Trials” they are a coming. If you aren’t’ in the midst of one I rejoice with you. But for those of you who are: I encourage you to give it to God and trust that he is working things out even when you can’t see it. Leave your “trial” in the section below and I will join with you in prayer. –Tonya
