Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…

Acts 24: 22-27

Drusilla was the fairest of them all. All the Disney Princesses combined looked like chopped liver compared to this gal. Hands down! Life couldn’t have been better. She married a King and shortly after that a hunk of a man (the governor) began to pursue her, so they started shackin’. She was living her Happily Ever After life. Then one day God positioned the Apostle Paul to cross her path. Felix, the Governor agreed to hear Paul’s case.

I can see Felix, now home for dinner, telling his beautiful Drusilla about the case that had been put on his docket. This guy named Paul was to defend himself in his courtroom the next day. Something must have intrigued them about Paul’s story. It is now nearly thirty years after the crucifixion of the Jew named Jesus. Paul had been beaten and imprisoned numerous times; yet he continued to hold tight to his convictions. It would be interesting to hear what this apostle man had to say. I can picture the beautiful Drusilla leaning in and whispering in Felix’s ear how she would love to hear Paul’s story.

Paul not only defended himself against the false charges, he told The Gospel in his story. How could he not? That’s who he was. But they both rejected The Truth and told Paul to go away. There was just too much to change. Drusilla certainly didn’t need anyone guilting her into giving up her Happily Ever After life. Besides, she was B-u-ti-full! (add attitude)

What a story! Right?

BUT….(Put the breaks on!)   Isn’t that what we are all called to be?     Beautiful!

BeautifulYES! We are each called to: Be YOU until you are Full of Him. Be you till you’re full of HIM. B-u-til-full of Him.  Beautiful!   When you are full of Him, you ARE Beautiful. God made you BEAUTIFUL! He made you to be you. IF He wanted you to be someone else, He could have made two of her. But He made YOU! He made you to be full of Him and when you do that, you are the most beautiful that you can be!

Take a long look in the mirror, my sister. Do you see her? Do you see the real you? …the Beautiful you? The most amazing part of looking in the mirror and seeing something short of that beautiful woman is that God is patiently waiting with open arms to welcome you back; never requiring you to clean yourself up first. He longs for you to come back exactly like you are. He wants to show you great and mighty things, to bless you. Never pushy, He is lovingly calling you to climb up in His arms, lean back against His chest, hear His heart and have sweet long talks with Him. He wants you!

Don’t make the same mistake the beautiful Drusilla made; “Not today, God.” Tomorrow was too late. History documents that Drusilla, her son and the mass majority perished in Pompeii during the eruption of the volcano.  She had ignored all the signs. She had her own plan…her Happily Ever After.

There is no one fairer in all the land… than a woman who has been in God’s presence, complete with warts and all. Take a long look in the mirror of your mind’s eye and see that girl. She is beautiful!  ~   You are Beautiful!

  1. Beautifully said sweet sister. It reminds me of my new favorite verse, Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ NLT)
Masterpiece means a work of outstanding artistry and skill.
